About WEP Partners

At WEP Partners our industry experience enables us to pull together complex projects with multiple stakeholders. Our founders have a proven track record in the decentralised energy industry; having helped successfully close a number of multi-million pound contracts for merchant, public and private sector organisations.

Our experience of acquiring sites and delivering assets including the necessary planning permission, helps us develop the commercial frameworks required to support our energy assets. Combined with our management and advisory skills to oversee projects in their construction and operational phases, we are able to provide expert continuity for our project stakeholders throughout the project life.

Meet the team

Mark Denham

Mark Denham, CEO

Mark has 20 years' experience in the technology and energy sectors, having held senior positions in both blue chip companies and 'start-ups'. At Mitie's former Asset Management division Mark was a board director who led a team which and successfully contracted £100m of decentralised energy projects. Prior to this, Mark spent five years heading up the global operations for a US technology company.

At WEP Partners Mark brings his considerable experience to oversee projects and operations.

Simon Brown

Simon Brown, Director

Simon is an energy development specialist with a proven track record of identifying opportunities, getting them off the ground and seeing them through to financial close and beyond. At WEP Partners Simon manages the deal landscape between all stakeholders, developing a robust business case for our projects.

Before starting WEP Partners Simon spent 8 years in senior roles at Mitie’s former Asset Management division where he was instrumental in developing the business programme for project development and investment, across public and private sectors. This included the early success of the company's first fund, design, build and operate energy services contract resulting in a £19 million contract for the business.

Graham Fulton

Graham Fulton, Business Development Manager

Graham is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with a background in Contract/ Commercial management having delivered projects across a variety of different infrastructure sectors including aviation, rail and energy. Graham’s most recent role was site based on the new £60m Waste to Energy Gasification Plant in Hoddesdon.

Previously, Graham has spent time working within a Contract Solutions team at EC Harris and also headed up the commercial team for the delivery of a £220m rail project in Buckinghamshire which completed in 2016.

Julian Harris

Julian Harris, Director

Julian was educated at Cranleigh School, Surrey and Phillips Academy, Massachusetts, USA graduating with an MA from Peterhouse, Cambridge. He qualified as a lawyer at Allen & Overy LLP and became a partner in 1995. During his time at A&O he was based in Hong Kong, Milan, Amsterdam and London. In the case of Milan and Amsterdam, A&O merged with local law firms and Julian was the first London Partner sent to facilitate those mergers.

Julian originally specialised in Real Estate Finance, and was responsible for setting up A&O’s Real Estate Finance Group. Later on, Julian specialised in project finance and worked on a number of power projects around the world, including a multi-billion Euro portfolio of energy generating wind farm assets across mainland Europe (Trinergy) which was sold for c.€1.8 billion to International Power plc. Julian also advised a group of European development banks on the Rabai power station in Kenya partly owned by BWSC.

Mark White

Mark White - Director

Mark has spent over 14 years of his working life in the energy and infrastructure markets. He gained a Physics degree from Cambridge and started working in the IT department of UBS, before moving into the corporate finance team where he worked on IPOs and the mergers of UK companies. He then moved to the Bank of Scotland’s project finance team in 2002 where he debt-financed energy and energy infrastructure projects including gas and electricity metering (c.£340m), private distribution networks (c.£200m), petrochemical plants (c.£180m) and pulp and paper plants (£180m). He then turned to the more entrepreneurial sector in 2006 where he spent time analysing private equity financing of wind, solar, anaerobic digestion and solar thermal energy projects, as well as structured products.

Mark’s major skill is his ability to grasp the technical aspects of energy generating projects and translate these into financial projections. He distills the complex factors behind commodities, energy conversion, distribution and regulation into useable, meaningful data.

Chris McClements, Project Engineer

Chris recently joined Waste Energy Partners as a Project Engineer to provide a greater technical depth to the team. Following the completion of his BEng (Hons) degree in Chemical and Process Engineering, Chris worked with two international manufacturers in the Oil and Gas service sector. During this time, Chris successfully delivered multimillion pound projects in challenging environments, both in a technical and Project Management capacity.

Chris’ role within WEP will focus on the technical side of the business, working closely with the project teams, driving each project towards completion into the operational phase.
