Belfast, N. Ireland

Project details:

P3P, joint venture partner in WEPP, is a key investor in the £107 million Full Circle Generation project alongside the Green Investment Bank, RiverRidge Energy and Equitix. The project, originated by RiverRidge, developed a 14.85MW waste-to-energy plant in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Bouygues Energies and Services undertook the design, construction and operation of the plant in Belfast. The plant, which is now operational, is the largest of its kind to be financed in Northern Ireland, and delivers 65MWh of clean, green electricity on an annual basis – sufficient to power 14,500 homes.

Pioneer Fuels fuel the plant using feedstock, comprised of household and commercial waste. The gasification of this waste into a combustible fuel qualifies the project for the Renewable Obligations scheme whilst also aiding local authorities and businesses meet waste reduction targets.
